Who should play Jimmy Stewart in the upcoming biopic?

Following the news this past winter of a Jimmy Stewart biopic in production from Burns & Co. Prods. with the support of his daughter, Kelly Stewart-Harcourt, a film about the beloved actor’s life is finally coming to the big screen. Looking to cover his time while working on It’s a Wonderful Life, the film aspires to uncover the real Jimmy and his collaboration with Frank Capra who guided him through his darkest hours. As a lifelong fan (and someone who has frequented his museum in Indiana, Pennsylvania), I would love to see a feature film on him, exploring the humble actor’s deeper complexities. But as for who should play him — I’ve got two people in mind: Grant Gustin of The Flash and Nicolas Braun of Succession. Do you agree?

What's Will Ferrell's most underrated movie?

Will Ferrell is a comedy king, there is no question. I love his era of 'Saturday Night Live' and his brilliant collaborations with Cheri Oteri and Molly Shannon. I mean, can you really beat the Spartan Cheerleaders? No. The wonderfully bizarre Dog Show? Mr. Bojangles is an icon. Of course, 'Elf,' 'Anchorman,' 'Wedding Crashers,' and 'Step Brothers' all spring to mind when we think of his movies, but there's one that rarely gets the attention (if any at all) it deserves. 2005's 'Kicking & Screaming' starring Ferrell, Robert Duvall, Kate Walsh, and a baby Josh Hutcherson is a hilarious sports comedy in which Ferrell's Phil competes against his father (Duvall) to see who can coach the better kids' soccer team. Probably the best part of the movie is when Phil discovers the wonders of coffee...and subsequently gets banned from a coffee shop. And it's PG? This movie is funnier than it has every right to be.

What Is the Best Pixar Sequel?

With 'Inside Out 2' now the highest-grossing film of 2024 and Pixar stating they're looking at creating more sequels based on their existing films, which is your favorite Pixar sequel? Is it one of the many 'Toy Story' sequels? Do you think 'Cars 3' is better than 'Cars 2'? Or is Pixar's latest your favorite in the studio's filmography?

Terrible take warning: 'The Shawshank Redemption' is just OK. Am I alone on this one?

Like, it's all fantasy fulfillment. I don't feel any depth to these characters. There's high stakes, yes, but they're somehow lost in the mix for me. Andy is a perfect angel, intelligent, driven, and innocent in every way possible. His enemies are entirely bad, nothing gray or interesting about them. Then, he just wins. Swell. There's so little grit, drama, and depth here. I can see why people love it, but not why they esteem it as one of the best movies ever. It's, like, fine. Makes me think I'm in a different universe. Am I utterly alone in thinking this, because it so often feels that way.

Happy Pride! Who's your favorite queer Star Trek character?

While Star Trek has long had an abundance of queer fans, the franchise has only recently begun to include more explicitly queer characters on screen. After years of audience speculation, Seven of Nine was made canonically bisexual in the first season of Star Trek: Picard. As a queer person who already related to Seven in general, I was delighted to see her develop a relationship with Raffi on screen. I also really love Lower Decks' Beckett Mariner and really hope she'll get a fun romance plot in the show's final season. With characters like Adira Tal, Jett Reno, Paul Stamets, Hugh Culber, and Nurse Chapel, the number of gays in space continues to grow! Who's your favorite? Which other characters do you think may be part of the LGBTQ+ community?
